Only thing I can suggest op is to try and get into Safe Mode and use some kind of built-in "reverse" option if CCleaner provides it, and if backups of whatever it decided to delete were saved somewhere.
Cant get into safe mode, tried several ways but unsuccessful. I even tried using a Windows 8 disk, just so I could get into startup options and stuff, but I cant get anywhere but the black screen or the forced Windows Defender Offline.
Did you hard reset times after making it to some semblance of the Windows startup process? It scans a quick scan and does nothing, then reboots to the same windows screen. Of course, after first extracting the critical data that you need from that hard drive.
For future reference Windows 10 doesn't need extra "cleaning" like old Windows versions used to. Windows 10 is pretty good at taking care of itself. I've used CCleaner on hundreds of machines since XP, and this has never, ever happened to any of them.

Im Using CCleaner since forever and never had problems. I even clean my Registery with it which is not something i recommend and had no problems so far. Couldn't have said it better myself. And, yeah, no good reason to mess with registry cleaners, unless it's after removing bloatware from a new machine, to get rid of any leftover entries.

Why would I want to clean my registry? What does this do for me? If it doesn't give any advantages like I asked in the first post why would I use it? I asked for real facts, real measurable advantages, not just "it doesn't cause any harm".

The responses you're getting are exactly why I'm going to continue using CCleaner. Sure, alternatives exist but it's so much more convenient to have an all in one solution instead of having 5 different programs. Do what I did and use a version from or so.

You don't have to open every program and do it yourself. That's the main reason I use it every once in a while. I barely have used Windows 10 planning to come back to PC in the coming months. Yes and Windows 10 typically handles its own maintenance tasks on its own.
You really don't need to do it at all. The only thing that might take up unnecessary space would be restore points, and you can just disable that feature if you don't want them. Software like CCleaner are very useful because they contain a suite of functions in one easy location.
People in the last thread like this were saying "don't bother with CCleaner it's easy to do yourself! It also wipes your free space and will uninstall programs, etc. All with one click of a button. That's a bit disingenuous. You don't need to resort to the command line for basic system maintenance, we're talking about Windows not Ubuntu.
All the maintenance you need to do in Windows is GUI based, and you don't even need to know exactly what apps to run since you can search for terms in Start. You could save those lines into a text file and call it cleanup.
Bonus, you learn something about how your pc works. Yeah but CCleaner provides backups in case things go wrong for the cache and registry cleaning, and there's still several features not covered by that text file that would require extra steps.
I was not talking about ccleaner but just your statement about having to type the commands every time. While Windows makes an effort to remain backward compatible, any modern cleanup commands would utilise cmd.
The hell do you do to get such amounts of temp files? For me Windows takes care of them and I never have a significant amount. With CCleaner you can tell all your friends and family about how clean you butthole computer is and then they can tell all their friends about their grandson the computer expert.

I've always used Glary Utilities for maintenance. There is a free version or you can go here if you want the pro version for free. Just watch what you are agreeing to during install. Yes, it's a helpful solution, CCleaner is just junk so you don't have to worry if it's safe.
Holy shit problem solved! Obviously it's better to manually open up all your programs with a cache and clear them individually, and when your hard drive does eventually get full, you just toss it out and buy a new one.

Telling them there is no need is the actual solution to the problem. Well then I guess we finally found the guy responsible for deciding what constitutes a real problem. I recently threw together a powershell script that clears my browser caches, temp files, download folders, etc.
It accomplishes roughly the same thing without needing a 3rd party app and gives me control over it. I'm not highly proficient in Powershell at all, so if I can do it, anyone can! Just woke up, so let me grab a cup of coffee and I'll throw it up there for you.

Some bits I sourced from other forums, so I'll go back and add credit when I'm awake and more functional. Download CClear to your desktop CCleaner, scroll down to the slim version. Just download, don't install it yet.
Download DAF to your desktop. Beneath that you will see "Direct download DJLizard. Install it then open the program Click the green check mark then click GO. Boot the computer as normal, and tap the F8 key repeatedly before the Windows logo appears and choose Safe mode with command prompt from the boot menu.
If you are able to launch Dial-a-fix. If all goes as planned, it will begin applying changes. If it does not, post back before continuing with these instructions. Now reboot in Safe Mode. Reboot your computer, and when it restarts press F8 over and over before Windows logo appears until you get a screen that gives you a list of boot options.
If anything about these instructions are unclear please let me know before attempting these steps. Nevertheless it finished normally, and I went through all the following steps of the process, and installed the CCleaner slim, and ran it.
I do have a problem with my computer actually I have not been able to use the Uninstall function from the Config Panel for a while; it fails with a script error on line 21 etc And I am afraid that I might have to reinstall W from scratch.

And were you logged in as administrator when you ran DAF? I'm not sure if I included that in my post You need administrator access to register anything in your registry. Do you want me to post the last error I mentioned ie the one when using the uninstall function of the congig panel - see attached screen capture or all the errors identified by DAF?
I installed mine yesterday, ran "analyze", it ran and nothing showed up for hours. Is this not supposed to be connected to the internet to scan? It is not necessary to be online to use ccleaner. If fact if you use FireFox you must close it before cleaning.
If it is the first time you have used ccleaner it can take quite a while as there can be a lot of cookies etc which build up. I have not spoken French in 10 years, but I think that the error is "This object does not manage this property or this method".
If I translated correctly you just need Admininistrator access. In order to not need to be logged on as an Administrator you will need to change your user settings to allow yourself more access.
Try uninstalling, and installing logged on as Administrator. If it works then we can just change the limitations on your user account. One more thing, I didn't know you were French so download the CCleaner "basic" version instead of the "slim" version.
Slim is English only. We're not talking about DAF any longer? Or do I have to go thru the whole process you described yesterday with DAF? If the uninstall function works when logged on as an Administrator then your user access settings just need to be adjusted.
